PROFILE OF LIAM

Profile of Liam

Liam’s introduction into the world of budgerigars came about after looking through his dads old photo albums of the budgies he had as a young lad, after pestering his mum and dad for a few weeks and visiting every pet shop he passed looking at the many different varieties of budgerigars he was disappointed when he was told firmly by his dad “WE ARE NOT GETTING INVOLVED WITH BUDGERIGARS AGAIN!!!”
To Liam’s delight his granddad went against the wishes of Liam’s parents and set up a mixed aviary of budgerigars & finches at his house for Liam to look after, Liam then spent every weekend at his grandfathers house looking after the birds, Slowly Liam’s dad began to get the budgie bug again and soon eight double breeding cages had been bought and breeding commenced, The original stock of pet style budgies bred like mad and the more Liam’s dad looked at the birds the bigger the urge to set up again grew!
Next step was to join Cleethorpes B&FBS & the Budgerigar Society, Liam got his BS ring number D4334 and many more birds were bred that season, eventually his dad succumbed to the urge and built a birdroom at home!

PROFILE OF SIMON

Will it be a winner!

Profile of Simon

Simon’s introduction into the hobby started in 1984, when at the age of 13 he got a job after school job at a local pet shop, Simon was taken with the budgies on offer in the shop and even more amazed when he was shown some breeding pairs in a store room in the back of the shop
Simon’s Father was running a football team in the local league at the time, Bill Duffield the chairman of the club invited them out to Immingham to visit his birdroom, a purpose built brick aviary in the garden full of exhibition quality birds that were amazing!
That was it on our return home out came the bikes, lawn mower & other bits from the garden shed and a small aviary was constructed, a block of six breeding cages were given to us by the pet shop and birds were purchased from Bill
We joined Cleethorpes B&FBS, Grimsby CBS and the Budgerigar Society, soon the small aviary was replaced with a shed 12’ x 8’ which had a internal flight, rearing cage with units below and 12 breeding cages, better quality birds were bought from Chris Snell & Alan Michael and two or three successful breeding seasons followed
Unfortunately fulltime employment and other varieties of birds!!! began to take up more & more time and reluctantly the birds were let go in the late 80’s

20 ish years later!!!

Now married to Lisa and with two children Liam (12) and Chloe (9) Simon’s interest in budgerigars has been rekindled, a small bird room has now been constructed, foundation stock purchased and a new breeding program commenced
